Beaches in Andros

With a coastline of 176 kilometers and many wonderful beaches, some fully organized and easily accessible, while others are secluded and adventurous, Andros promises you a perfect and unforgettable holiday. Beaches with crystal clear waters, some with golden sand, some with pebbles and some with rocks for those who love fishing, the island impresses and offers to meet the needs of all its visitors.

Batsi beach

Batsi Beach is one of the most cosmopolitan beaches of the island and is located in one of the busiest parts of the island. It is ideal for families and children, as the length of the beach is quite long and the waters are very calm and shallow, which makes it an ideal choice even on windy days. A part of the beach is organized and several tamarisk trees adorn the beach and offer plenty of shade to its visitors. As the sun sets, the boats dock in the small and picturesque harbour of Batsi and the view is magnificent. Around the beach there are many restaurants, traditional taverns and cafes. It is 9 km from the port of Gavrio.

Chrisi Ammos

Perhaps the most cosmopolitan beach of the island and one of the most beautiful. With a golden sandy beach and a view of the endless blue sea, it is located on the northwest coast of Andros in the area of Kipri, about 3 km from the port of Gavrio and 6 km from the center of Batsi. It is particularly popular mainly among young people and as its name suggests, it is covered with golden sand that you can also find at the bottom of the sea. With turquoise, shallow and almost always calm waters, it is an ideal place for our little swimmers to play in the sea and on the shore. It is organized, with a beach bar, a favourite youth’s place and there are also various water sports amenities.

Zorkos Beach

Zorkos Beach is one of the most beautiful and largest beach of the island, with golden sand, crystal clear turquoise waters and imposing rocks that embrace it and give an exotic look. It is located on the northeastern side of the island and is 17 km from the port of Gavrio and 24 km from the center of Batsi. It is suitable for anyone who needs a calm and peaceful day at the sea and is also ideal for anyone who wants an unforgettable day on the water. Adored for its turquoise waters by fishing enthusiasts while the imposing rocks form impressive caves which are perfect for diving. Ideal for visiting on days with as little wind as possible as it is affected by the island’s weather conditions. There are umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach while directly above the beach there is a traditional tavern.

Vitali Beach

The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches of the island with crystal clear, deep blue waters. It is located in the northeastern part of Andros, 14 km from the port of Gavrio and 22 km from the center of Batsi. It is considered one of the jewels of the island, because both the route to it and the view that the visitor sees when he reaches are unique. The waters are crystal clear and the rocks are high and impressive. On the left part of the beach, there is the white church that offers an unobstructed view from above. The beach has sunbeds, a beach bar and a traditional tavern.

Fellos Beach

One of the most famous and largest beaches of Andros with golden sandy beach and crystal clear waters. The beach is ideal for endless hours of relaxation and playing in the sand, with tamarisk trees almost all along its coastline offering natural shade to its visitors. It is considered one of the most famous and busiest beaches on the island, since it is only 4 km away from the port of Gavrio and the access to it is quite easy. It isn’t an organized beach and there isn’t a beach bar making it ideal for families, but close enough there is a beautiful traditional tavern with flavors from the local cuisine of the island.

Kipri Beach

Kipri Beach in Andros, with its golden sandy beach and turquoise waters, is an excellent choice for water sports enthusiasts and of course it is one of the most ideal beaches on the island for families and children. The beach has a Surf Club, beach bar and sunbeds, offering visitors a fun day of endless games. It is located on the west side of the island, next to the beaches of Chrisi Ammos and Agios Petros and is 3.2 km from the port of Gavrio and 5.8 km from the center of Batsi. Access to it is quite easy as it is located on the main provincial road of the area and has a parking lot.

Ateni Beach

Ateni beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It is divided into two separate beaches, the small and the big Ateni. On the left, the beach is famously known between the two for the golden sandy beach and the shallow blue waters. It is small and unorganized, ideal for families and children. Firstly because of its morphology that protects it from the wind and secondly, its waters are so shallow that young and older people can play in the water without fear. On the right side is the Great Ateni. It is a large and adventurous beach. Ideal for wind surfing since it is quite exposed to the winds. There you will find an organized beach bar with sunbeds. Ateni is located in the eastern part of the island, very close to Batsi just 11 km and 18 km from the port of Gavrio.

Tis Grias to Pidima beach

Tis Grias to Pidima beach is one of the most characteristic and the most popular of all. Its imposing rock combined with the turquoise waters give the beach an eerie and wild beauty. It is located on the southeastern side of the island and is 38 km from the port of Gavrio and 23 km from Chora of Andros and it’s considered quite inaccessible. Access to it is difficult as it involves a speedy descent of the hillside following a narrow path for about 5 minutes. If you manage to visit it, you will see a wonderful small sandy beach with turquoise waters, ideal for long hours of carefree summer moments, since the rocks at the back of the beach offer natural shade to its visitors. The beach is not organized and there is no nearby shop to buy anything. There are three different legends behind the name of the beach, with the most popular one stating that it was named after an old woman who jumped off the cliff because she couldn’t bear the loss of her husband after she widowed for the third time.

Achla Beach

This beach is one of the most famous and most beautiful beaches in Greece. Its magnificent emerald waters, the fine sand and the small white pebbles are the elements that makes it unique, making you feel like you are in paradise. It is located on the northeastern side of Andros, north of Chora, below the village of Vourkoti. There are two ways to visit it. Either via a rough dirt road with a 4×4 truck, or from the sea by boat starting from Chora of Andros. It is 34km from the port of Gavrio, 28km from Batsi and 24km from Chora of Andros.

Pissolimnionas Beach

Perhaps one of the most romantic spots on the island as you are looking at the sunset right across Cavo Doro. Pissolimnionas is a large and secluded beach, ideal for relaxation with coarse sand and pebbles and very cool waters. The beach is not organised and there are no shops nearby. It is located in the northwestern part of Andros, between the settlements of Ano and Kato Fellos, just 8 km from the port of Gavrio and 17 km from Batsi.

Apothikes beach

It is a small but beautiful picturesque creek and it is one of the most beautiful beaches of Andros, with turquoise waters and golden sand. Most of the beach has comfortable sunbeds and a well-known beach bar. It is located on the western side of the island in the Stavropeda area and it is affected by the weather conditions. It is 24 km from the port of Gavrio and 15 km from Andros Town and has a parking lot.
